Rita has had a keen interest in painting and drawing from childhood and started oil painting as a young teenager encouraged by her father. Her recent paintings are developed from watercolour sketches and photographic backup during her walks along the beaches and coast paths of Cornwall.
She moved to St Ives in 2014 drawn by the intense light and wild landscape, reminiscent of her upbringing in the Peak District.
Working mainly with oil paint, but also watercolour and acrylic, she attempts to capture the spiritual essence of the Cornish landscape.
Rita’s work has been exhibited in St Ives and West Sussex and is part of several private collections.
